What students think
It feels so good! For my body, yes, but also for my mind, my self. When I practice, the movements help me to channel excess energy, so I can find stillness and quiet space for my busy mind to focus. Challenging myself on my mat helps me to connect with my breath, focus my attention and ultimately presents me with opportunities to practice self-patience and compassion. My practice teaches me to respect my boundaries, trust my choices, and be more open in life.
I've always been a teacher, and I've found that the more I teach, the more I learn. I love being able to present new ideas (or old ideas in new ways) to my students. In yoga classes, I offer suggestions and guidance…I encourage all of my students to be their own teachers, to learn to pay attention to their bodies and breath, and apply what they experience in class to their lives off of the mat. Teaching also provides me with opportunities to explore my own practice on a deeper level.
